Field instruments are mounted in the instrument panels which are placed in the field near the application e.g. reactors and manufacturing machines. The connecting tubings and wiring from the field are brought to the instrumentation panel. The operator can view the process parameters on the instruments mounted on the front panel and take decision in case of emergency.
